about

*3-song cd/digi (iTunes, et al) official release 3/22/14*

"Admiral sings Please Please Me" features re-interpreted versions of three of the songs originally found on the Beatles' "Please Please Me" LP. The initial catalyst behind this effort was John Lennon's assertion (in a 1980 interview) that the song Please Please Me was "my attempt to write a Roy Orbison song" (Paul McCartney later stated that "George Martin up-tempo-ed it" when the band went to record it).

Admiral - led by Alan Grandy (Sputnik, the terrible parade) and featuring cohorts Jeff Harmon, Chris Solt (both fr. Sputnik), and Marky Ray (the terrible parade) - aim at evoking the spirits of early Beatles influences such as Orbison, the Everly Brothers, and Hank Marvin & the Shadows in order to "re-imagine" (so to speak) the songs featured on the ep.
